Can I send JobPortal my CV?
Unfortunately, no. Jobportal does not place applicants directly into vacancies. We do however help to facilitate the job recruitment process .You should follow the application procedure.
How do I apply for a job?
Click on the view more details link or the name of the job. This will bring up the full advert. Once the link is opened you will be able to view more details concerning the job. At the bottom of the opened job page you can click on the apply icon. Before you can apply for a job you will have to be a logged in registered Jobseeker. As well as being a registered jobseeker, you will need to ensure your online CV is finalized.
How do I finalize my Online CV?
In order to have your online CV finalized you will need to ensure all the relevant sections are completed. These relevant sections are found on the left hand toolbar and seekers login and are named as follows: CV: Personal Info, CV: Objective, CV: Courses Studied, CV: Employment History, CV: Skill's Matrix, CV: Finalise. Once these sections are completed the will have an adjacent green tick next to them.Please also remember to sms:jobportal to 39143 to finalise the cv activation
What does it mean if my CV is incomplete?
If your CV is in this state you will not be able to apply for jobs nor will recruiters be able to search and view your Online CV, but you can search for jobs and set-up job alerts. An incomplete CV means that you have not completed a (the) specific CV: seeker information section(s). The incomplete section(s) will have an adjacent red cross and in order to complete the section(s) merely click on the section's title, fill in the required details and click on the save icon at the bottom of the subsequent page.
What other states can my CV be in?
A CV can be 1 of 3 states: Incomplete, Completed- Non Active, Completed- Active. When Your CV is: Incomplete it means that you have not completed a (the) specific CV: seeker information section(s). The incomplete section(s) will have an adjacent red cross and in order to complete the section(s) merely click on the section's title, fill in the required details and click on the save icon at the bottom of the subsequent page A CV in the in complete state is mentioned above.
How do I edit any of the details of my Online CV?
In order to edit or update any of your details you will firstly need to login to JobPortal. Once logged in, click on the relevant section's title on the left hand tool bar, this will open the relevant page where changes to your Online CV can be made. Once the changes for that page are complete click on the SAVE icon at the bottom of the page and your changes will be saved.
How do I search for a job?
To search for a job click on the Job search title on the left hand tool bar. This will bring up JobPortal's search function. On the Job Search page fill in your desired job details and click on the search for jobs icon on the bottom of the page. Once the system has run your particular search, it will display the jobs, in order to view the job click on the job title or the 'view more details' link.
My search for jobs didn't display any results?
You pressed the enter key instead of using your mouse button to click; There are currently no jobs available that match your keywords searched; Try changing your keywords;
How do I set up my job alerts?
This function is similar to JobPortal's Job Search except you will not have to stay online. Click on the My Job Alerts title on the left hand tool bar, which will open the My Job Alerts page. On the My Job Alert page fill in the desired details of the job that you would like to be alerted of. JobPortal will send you an email alert of any job matching the keywords you programmed. With My Job Alert you will be able to setup more than one Job Alert, view your current Job Alert as well as being able to delete and current job Alerts.
What if I forget my username or password?
If you forget your username, password or both click on either the 'lost password' link on the homepage in the existing user box. Otherwise you can click on the Seekers Login title in the left hand toolbar. On the Seekers Login page fill in your email address and Jobportal will send your username and password to your email box. In order to ensure privacy JobPortal will not be able to display to you your lost username or password on the website.
What if I changed my email address?
You must also change your email in the CV: Personal Info in order to make sure JobPortal can send you your Job alerts as well as ensuring recruiters can get in contact with you.
What levels of confidentiality do I have?
JobPortal will adhere to the strictest of privacy codes. JobPortal will not allow your Online CV to be viewed by any persons or organizations unless authorized by you the user. If you do not want your CV viewed by prospective employers you will need to ensure your Online CV is de-active. To de-Activate your CV click on the CV: Finalise title on the left hand tool bar. Once the CV: Finalise page is open your Online CV status will be displayed. To de-activate your CV if it is Active click on the de-activate icon. If your Online CV status is incomplete then it will not be possible for recruiters to search and view your Online CV.
Can I tell who accessed my online CV?
Unfortunately you will not be able to identify who has viewed your Online CV, but you will be able to view how many times your Online CV was viewed this current month as well as the month prior.
Can an overseas person apply for jobs?
JobPortal is a South African Website for South Africans. Thus, Job advertised on JobPortal will only be for jobs posted in South Africa for South African employees.
How do I un-register with JobPortal?
If you have found employment and would not like to your CV to viewed by any recruitment agencies or organizations you don't have to un-register from JobPortal, all you would need to do is deactivate your Online CV. If you would also like to no longer receive emails from JobPortal click here. Unfortunately for us if you still no longer wish to be a member of JobPortal then click here. This will however delete all your details listed on JobPortal.
I am not receiving any email from JobPortal?
This could be for the following reasons: You or your email provider has instituted a spam blocker to prevent any JobPortal emails; Your mailbox might be full; Your system may be preventing you from receiving large emails;
Can I be sent copies of job adverts on the website?
No, unfortunately we do not hold electronic copies of adverts that have posted on JobPortal. You may be able to gain a copy of the advert directly from the recruiter in question. Ideally you are advised to print a copy of any advert that you apply for, this will enable you to refer to it in the future, should the need arise.
How do I know if the recruiter received my CV?
Once the recruiter views your CV, the recruiter will then notify you personally via email or sms. The notification medium (email or sms) will be based on the relevant recruiter and provided your details (email or cellphone number) are listed and correct.
Why am I not receiving any sms's?
You are not a registered JobPortal user; You need to make sure your phone is working and you have entered the corect cellphone number in your personal details; You have clicked on NO to receive an sms notification. To change go to Personal Info and click on the YES icon to the question asking if you would like to receive an sms; You did not apply properly for the job; The recruiter for whom you applied to for a job has opted to rather send email notification rather then send an sms;
